Founder’s Day Celebration on July 19
We all had such a great time celebrating America’s 250th birthday and now there is another significant milestone to observe. It’s for something even older than our country and I am of course talking about the Town of Greenwich.
On July 19, I will read a proclamation marking Founder’s Day, which is formally recognized as July 18. On that day in 1640, Robert Feake and Daniel Patrick purchased land in what would be Old Greenwich from the Munsee Indian tribe.
Greenwich’s history is a long and fascinating one and the annual celebration at First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich at 10 a.m. is a great event to attend. This is the oldest church in Greenwich and I will be delivering the proclamation during their Sunday service on July 19.
The event is open to all and we invite you to come and celebrate our Town’s founding with us.
