During her teaching years in NYC, Barbara Gersh taught Exceptionally Gifted Students in a select program for students in grades one through four for over fifteen years. Upon her retirement from NYC, she taught at Old Greenwich Elementary School in Greenwich Connecticut for twelve years.

After her retirement, Barbara began tutoring students in reading, writing, and math. She is certified in grades one through six in both New York and Connecticut. She loves teaching and continues to teach until this day.

During the pandemic, she was able to connect with students virtually, as well as in person. This year, she was totally responsible for the education of one second grade NYC student. We successfully covered the entire curriculum and she has now been admitted to an elite private school. As a teacher, it is very apparent that the pandemic has drastically increased the learning gap for our children. Marianna with M. Beck Tutoring is a certified special education and English teacher with 14 years of teaching experience and a BA in English from Bucknell University and a MA in Learning Dis/Abilities from Columbia University, Teachers College.

When working with students, Marianna identifies the specific reading, writing, or executive functioning skills to be targeted and builds individualized plans to strengthen each area. 

Her goal is to empower students to take ownership of their learning and teach them the tools they need to feel and be successful.
