Terra Ristorante, hosted over forty women and men for a candlelit “Go Pink” breast cancer awareness event and book signing on Thursday, October 6th. In honor of Terra’s 25th Anniversary, the restaurant hosted a special cocktail event offering complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks and invited special guest and inspirational speaker, Geralyn Lucas, a breast cancer survivor and author who shared her personal life stories and motivation for writing her most recent book, “Then Came Life.” To continue the celebration, a special four-course dinner with wine pairings was specially prepared by Executive Chef, Albert DeAngelis which included: American Kobe Beef Carpaccio, Arugula, Parmesan, Mushroom, Truffle paired with Cote du Rhone (Grenache/Syrah), Paul Autard, France, 2015; Parmesan Crusted Sole, Fresh Tagliatelle, Mushroom, White Wine paired with (Pinot Noir), Au Bon Climat, Santa Barbera, California 2015; Montepulciano Braised Osso Buco, Saffron Risotto, Root Vegetables paired with Barolo (Nebbiolo), Luigi Pira, Serraluga, Piedmont, 2011 and a warm apple tart, with vanilla gelato for dessert paired with Muscato D’Asti, Michelle Chiarlo, Nivole, Piedmont, Italy, 2014.

Over fifty people attended the fundraising dinner to help raise money for the Breast Cancer Alliance, a local charity that supports the needs of cancer patients and survivors. Terra donated 100% of the dinner’s net proceeds to the Breast Cancer Alliance to help support their local programs and services. “We’ve been so incredibly fortunate. It truly has been a privilege to have enjoyed the support of our community and our long standing guests,” stated Zakka. “Celebrating 25 years is something we are very proud to have accomplished. However, supporting our local community and charitable events to help others achieve personal success is even more meaningful to us.” The art of philanthropy has been a part of the Z Hospitality culture and they take pride in being an active part in the community by regularly supporting local organizations and charities in the communities they serve: Greenwich, New Canaan and Norwalk, Connecticut and Rye, New York.

Terra is the longest running restaurant in Greenwich that currently still operates today. There are three original members of the team still at Terra to include: Ramze Zakka, the owner, Marcio Carvalho which began as a dishwasher who is now Chef de Cuisine and Albert DeAngelis who began as their Sous Chef and who is now the Executive Chef, Partner and Owner.  After twenty five years, the Terra team continues to excite and inspire us with their passion for hospitality and their cutting-edge culinary techniques. A second Terra is slated to open this Fall in Danbury, CT.
History
Terra Ristorante quietly opened in October of 1991 by Z Hospitality Founder and Owner, Ramze Zakka, who dreamed of creating a restaurant offering simple yet delicious food in a warm and inviting ambiance. He wanted to offer an alternative to the already existing white glove and fast casual restaurants that were in town. The goal was to create a bistro and introduce authentic Northern Italian food to Greenwich. He wanted guests to feel that they were being transported to Florence for an authentic dining experience. Everything from food and beverages to Italian servers and music was carefully curated to achieve this goal. Terra Ristorante’s success exceeded all expectations. The restaurant was quickly discovered and populated by guests who became regulars, dining on exquisite and authentic Italian fare a few times a week for lunch and dinner. Under the culinary leadership of Chef and Co-Owner, Albert DeAngelis, he and his staff showcase a constantly evolving and dynamic menu to offer guests a memorable dining experience. Innovation has been key to the success of Terra Ristorante’s menu. Though the menus change seasonally, reflecting the finest of what’s available at market, guests can still find longtime signature dishes such as the American Waygu Beef Carpaccio with white truffle oil, Milk-Fed Veal Milanese and Parmesan-Crusted Filet of Sole.
