Don't Worry, Sew Happy | Greenwich Moms

Sew Happy specializes in school enrichment programs, weekend and private workshops, and private lessons. Kim Mulcahy, founder of Sew Happy , is a Rye mom who, in 2011 started teaching friends how to sew in my small beach cottage. In 2012 she offered to teach sewing at her daughter’s school, Milton Elementary in Rye, through their after school club program and now her program is running in over 25 schools in Westchester and Connecticut. Sew Happy currently has 12 instructors who teach the lifeskill of sewing to kids aged from 6 to 16 and they expect to double that by the end of 2017.
Kim’s first sewing camp took place in her home 4 years ago where she taught 8 local tweens to create one-of-a-kind fashion items which they proudly displayed to friends and family at the “fashion show finale”. Now Kim’s wonderful team of instructors run camps in Greenwich, Rye and their latest location, Mount Kisco. They run monthly sewing machine workshops in Rye and in Fall 2016 they hope to also hold monthly workshops in Dobbs Ferry and Mount Kisco.

New for Fall, “Pixel Sewing,” is a STEM-based after school sewing club that allows children to improve on their math skills through a creative medium.
The last two years they have offered a very popular “Handmade Holiday” in Rye, where kids make 8 holiday gifts for friends and family. This year they plan to hold this event in Rye and Dobbs Ferry.
