Meet Penny! | Greenwich Moms

– Jolie Gotique – Greenwich’s First Fashion Truck!
Penny: I am originally from Montreal, Canada. We moved to Greenwich five years ago in 2011. We have 2 kids: Jolie – 7 years old & Jaden – 4 years old.
Aesthetics are important to me. I love contemporary, tailored & clean lines and that pertains both to clothing and furniture. Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams is my go to local furniture store. It has the perfect mix of great styles, good pricing and quality. Triple Threat! As for children’s clothing, I was excited when Splendid opened up their children’s boutique on Greenwich Avenue. It has all the styles I want to wear but miniaturized. Of course Jolie Gotique wins in this category! Greenwich’s first fashion truck will be carrying size 4 and up through tweens and featuring brand new fashion lines not sold locally.
What are your favorite events in Greenwich/Old Greenwich/Riverside/Cos Cob?
Such a hard question because we are incredibly lucky to live in such an involved, active and community-oriented town. Being that I’m in fashion, Greenwich Avenue Sidewalk Sale is of course in my top picks! The Art-to-the Avenue event is incredible. Gorgeous clothing mixed with amazing artwork, performers and delicious fare make for a perfect opening night. The Holiday Stroll is adorable. My children love spotting out Santa and grabbing hot cocoa along the way. Too many to pick from, these are just a few!
What are your favorite restaurants in Greenwich/Old Greenwich/Riverside/Cos
Cob?
I have always loved Gabriel’s. I order the same exact 3-course meal each time and my husband makes fun of me, but the Lobster Tail Aragosta with truffle cannot be beat! The food is only part of the success of Gabriel’s. Certainly Tony, the Maitre D, plays a role with his trivia, smile and ability to make each customer feel special. Mill Street & Table owned by Chef Geoff Lazlo is a top pick as well. The dishes are unique, farm fresh and the décor of the restaurant itself is beautiful.
I feel incredibly lucky to have two children who are both amazing eaters! Once at Bruce Park, when Jolie was four years old, another mom asked about her favorite food and she replied, “quinoa and edamame”! Needless to say, the mom had a shocked expression on her face. I cook “adult” food in a kid friendly package. Their favorites are baked ziti with spinach and Taco Tuesday with guacamole and chopped tomatoes.
I’m a total gym rat. Exercise is a way of life for me, not an optional activity. Being that I’m running a business now it has been difficult finding that balance but it’s top priority. Just like they say on an airplane – put the mask on yourself first then your child. I say, get to the gym first, release your stress and then be the best you can be!
I am proud and excited to be bringing Greenwich and Fairfield County it’s first Fashion Truck called Jolie Gotique! This Fashion Boutique on the GOtique carries a curated collection of girls and women’s clothing & accessories. I have personally hand selected each style from local, emerging and foreign designers. Jolie Gotique will pop up at local businesses, fundraisers, events and perhaps your driveway! It is a total family affair, as my daughter’s name is Jolie, which also means “pretty” in French. The Gotique sits in our driveway and my children think it is the coolest thing. It is our third and very large baby, but it doesn’t cry! The fashion truck launches in May. Stay tuned for an incredible launch event right on Greenwich Avenue.
