Hagar: I was born and raised in Greenwich, CT – born in Greenwich Hospital, in fact!
I lived in Greenwich until I went to New York City for college and grad school and then spent 12 years in Washington, D.C. I just moved back to Greenwich last summer and I’m so happy to be back!
I have two boys – Alexander the Great, who will be three years old in July, and Benjamin (aka Big Ben!) who is three months old.
I really just get everything baby from the Hermes store…ha, just kidding! My favorite clothing store by far is Janie and Jack – I have a bit of an obsession with their clothes. Wish I had a girl too to dress her up in them! I also love Crew cuts and Jacadi or even Lacoste – so cute for kids! As for furniture, I love Pottery Barn Kids in the Westchester Mall. I also think Restoration Hardware’s baby store is adorable.
What are your favorite events in Greenwich?
Oh so many! I love the Greenwich Town Party, the Bruce Museum arts festival in the Fall, and all the Christmas fairs ranging from the Junior League’s Enchanted Forest to the smaller church fairs – I don’t think any town has as many Christmas fairs as we do! I’m also excited for the Go Wild event in the Fall and the summer polo events. There are so many more events but I’ll stop there…I love this town so much.
What are your favorite restaurants in Greenwich?
My family and I love l’Escale – we are always there! I’m also a big fan of Meli Melo, I order the same thing almost every time (Fromage de chevre et salade aux nois, banana-kiwi-orange smoothie, and a crepe au beurre et sucre to finish!). I also love La Terra for the Italian fix.
My eldest son eats the same food we eat, which is great – but I do have this chicken soup I once made for him that he became obsessed with. I just sauteed some chicken and onions, and then added carrot, celery, potato, and chicken broth. At the end I added a little canned diced tomato to make it a bit tastier. He loves it and it’s so easy to do. It’s also a great way to get him to eat his veggies!
I love to write, dance (to be clear – I’m talking about Zumba here), sing (just joined the choir at First Presby church), and I love to play squash though it’s been a while admittedly! I also really enjoy community service engagement.
After having my second baby three months ago, I decided to leave my job and pursue something where I could run my own schedule. And so, I started a media strategies consulting business called Greenwich Media Strategies (www.greenwichmedia.com). We offer strategic communications and media relations services focused on counter-illicit finance, national security, and business messaging. I’ll also be doing political commentating for different news networks and will be writing on Huffington Post. (Follow me on Twitter @hagarhajjar!) I’m so excited to continue doing what I love while maintaining a flexible schedule for the kids!
