Meet Erin- Founder of Strong Mom | Greenwich Moms

Erin: I was born and raised in Chicago, so I’ll always be a midwesterner at heart. I will forever love deep dish pizza and The ’85 Bears, and I still slip and call a soda a “pop.”
We’ve lived in Greenwich for 3.5 years, moving from the city when I was pregnant with my daughter and my son was 1 year old.
We have 2 kids- Ben is 4, Hadley is 3 and we’re expecting another daughter in November!
My kids are grass-stain and mud puddle kind of kids so Old Navy is our go-to store for their clothes. I’m an online shopper so I snatch up some items from an Old Navy or Gap sale and I love getting sneakers the next day from Zappos.
Because of the boot camp I run, StrongMom, many of my favorite events revolve around physical activity. We rally a StrongMom team together for the Boys & Girls Club Muddy Up Run, and include our StrongDads and StrongKids in the Jingle Bell Jog. Another favorite event for the kids is the Kicking Cancer soccer camp hosted by The Linda W. Daniel Foundation.
We’re regulars at Morning Glory Diner and Little Pub because they’re so kid-friendly. For date night, I like Rye House in Port Chester. I love a place where I can wear a t-shirt and jeans.
What is your favorite kid-friendly recipe?
My ideal answer: homemade zucchini banana bread. My actual answer: frozen Eggo waffles (sigh). I continue to try to to introduce healthy, new foods. It’s the effort that counts, right??
I love taking cardio kickboxing classes with high energy music. When I can I’ll jump into a class with a bag- there’s something about hitting a bag that’s so empowering and a great release of aggression (yep, turns out moms have a lot of pent up aggression!). In addition to kickboxing, I try to take as many different kinds of exercise classes as I can to add to my toolbox of ideas for StrongMom.
Two years ago I created StrongMom, a boot camp for moms here in Greenwich. I knew exactly what I was looking for and couldn’t find it, so decided to create it myself. I wanted a down and dirty workout for ME, where I’d be motivated and inspired by those around me. This is when StrongMom was born. We work out in Bruce Park with fun toys like battling ropes, tires, medicine balls all while our kids are having a playdate of their own with a sitter 30 yards away. It’s a win-win for all.
