Meet a Mom: Photographer Alexandra Blair | Greenwich Moms

This Monday’s Meet a Mom is photographer Alexandra Blair. Born in Indiana and raised in Weston, CT, she and her husband moved to Greenwich a little over two years ago, and love living here with their “outgoing, non-stop smiling little girl”, Blake Summer Reindel, who is eight months old. As a photographer, she specializes in engagement sessions, weddings and family portraits, and prides herself on making clients feel at ease. Here’s more about Alexandra’s business, her love for Greenwich and what else you should know about this talented Greenwich Mom!

What do you love about Greenwich, having moved here only a few years ago? We absolutely love everything about this town. Spending a day at Tod’s Point, walking the Avenue, and of course, spending my paychecks at Citarella, are a few of my favorite things to do. All in all, Greenwich has completely stolen my heart.

Please tell us about your photography business. I am the owner of Alexandra Blair Photography here in Greenwich. I specialize in weddings, family, and lifestyle photography. My love for photography began while working at a desk when I was 20 years old. I was dreading the same old 9-5 life and I yearned to find a way to add color into my life. Loving photography and graphic design in college, I finally purchased a new camera and it quickly became my new obsession. Teaching myself how to shoot in manual while photographing anything and anyone who would let me, became the drive I needed to get me through the work week. I soon got a wedding gig and the rest is history.

What do you love most about your job? I love creating a connection with my clients and building a friendship as we work together. Being able to witness my clients journeys from beautiful wedding days to the joy of pregnancy, and from those fleeting newborn moments to watching their family grow throughout the years, is the most satisfying part of what I do.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now? I couldn’t think of a better place to have started my business. The community in Greenwich have all been so supportive and generous to a new business owner. Greenwich Moms has been key to getting my name out there, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the Greenwich Mom community!

So great to hear that! So what’s something that would surprise people about you? When I first asked my husband this question about me he said “you can touch your nose with your tongue”…Awesome, thanks, Coltyn.

Ha! Too funny–anything else? Most people don’t know that I am actually handyman-certified. When I was 22 and living in my first fixer-upper, I got sick of googling “how to…” so I decided to learn the essentials. I can confidently (I might add) lay and grout tile, install laminate flooring, and install simple plumbing/electric. It’s funny because my husband still doesn’t trust me to do any of them—especially paint.

Hilarious…Who has gotten you through the first few months of motherhood? My husband, Coltyn. If he isn’t working or tending to our daughter, he is cleaning bottles, doing laundry, grocery shopping, or cooking dinner. Coltyn is the epitome of a team player—I am so lucky to have him as my husband and the father of our daughter. Also, my girlfriends! Without them, I don’t know how I would have survived pregnancy and  post-partum. As great as my husband is, the one thing he cannot do is comprehend the crazy scenarios going on in my head at any given moment. They have been my greatest resource, even if they don’t have the answer for me, they will find someone who will. I can always count on them to cheer me up, listen to me ramble, and they treat my daughter like one of their own. They are my rocks and I would be lost without them.

Good mom friends are a lifesaver, for sure! What do you consider to be the best part of motherhood so far? For now I just love being with her and watching her grow with all of her daily improvements; she goes everywhere with me. I am taking in all of these precious moments before the word “no’s” start!
