Meet a Mom: Annie Murray - Greenwich Moms

Can you please tell us a bit about yourself personally? Kids/Ages?

I’m an Executive and Career Coach and also mom of two lively boys, ages 6 and 3.5.

Where do you live in Greenwich? How long have you lived here? What do you love about Greenwich and your neighborhood?

I’ve lived in Greenwich for five years now and live off of Lake Ave in Midcountry. I love the nature and greenery here and actually think what drew me to the area is that it reminds me of where I grew up in Minnesota with the woods and quiet lakes. Time in nature can teach you so much as a kid, like how to find adventure with your own creativity and imagination and also just enjoying the stillness. It’s also really cool to see history preserved throughout this area of Greenwich. Seeing the old stone walls lining the roads from centuries ago always gets me thinking about who came before us and makes me grateful to raise our sons in this special place.

How did you start your company?

After getting my coaching certification in 2018, I started coaching friends, past colleagues and friends of friends. After building a network, I realized I had my own little coaching practice that just continued to grow.

What is your professional background?

Before coaching, my professional career was really centered around connecting the dots between brands and building partnerships. I started out at Axcess Worldwide, a marketing firm that partnered luxury brands in unexpected, strategic ways—you might say Emily in Paris could have very loosely been based on what we did, but without question I did not have that wardrobe! After that, I joined the marketing team at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, working on everything from the U.S. Open sponsorship to smaller client events. Then came Vox Media where I helped shape branded content partnerships for digital platforms like Eater and Curbed. Each step along the way sharpened my ability to really listen, ask the right questions, and guide people toward what they’re truly after. All of that led me right here, to coaching.

What is your top piece of advice for a Mom figuring out her next career chapter?

I think we all need reassurance that we are exactly where we need to be right now. If you’re curious about what’s next, you’re already on your way to finding that fulfilling place. As a mom, whether you’re working, serving as CEO of the household, or doing some combination of both, motherhood can leave very little space for you. We all need a chance to press pause, hear our own voice again, and reconnect with the parts of ourselves that might have gotten quiet under the weight of logistics, caregiving and constant decision-making.

Who would benefit from coaching? Why invest in coaching?

Coaching is really one of the most powerful ways we can gain self awareness and get clarity to know you’re on the right professional path. The coach-client conversation offers a dedicated space to reflect and get intentional about where you’re going—whether it’s in your career, leadership or personal growth. It’s about having a thought partner who asks the right questions, challenges your assumptions, and helps you to stay accountable to what truly matters to you. I like to remind my clients that supporting yourself in this way will fuel resilience through the incredibly diverse range of situations in life – the joyful, the peaceful, the routine, the tough times.

Coaching supports my clients to:

  • Navigate a transition or pivot with clarity
  • Listen to their own powerful intuition
  • Build confidence and executive presence
  • Make big decisions with less second-guessing
  • Get “unstuck” and out of their own way
  • Align their day-to-day with their deeper values

The workplace has changed dramatically, especially for women, what are some trends you are seeing with working Moms that you most often need to address?

There are truly so many themes that appear in my coaching, really because every mom has a nuanced life that is unique to her. Whether it’s talking about the mental load we carry as moms, the return-to-office pressure vs flexible work needs, pacing our own career around parenting or simply focusing on identity evolution and purpose, there is so much moms may bring to the conversation.

What do you find the most challenging and most rewarding about helping women navigate their career paths?

I suppose you could say one challenging aspect of coaching can be encouraging clients to slow down enough to feel what’s going on beneath the surface. When something feels off in our careers, the instinct is to fix it fast—but real clarity often comes when we allow space to reflect rather than to react. Allowing time to shift out of that “fight-or-flight” mindset and into deeper awareness takes patience, but it’s incredibly powerful. The most rewarding moments are when something clicks—a conversation unlocks a new perspective, or a process leads someone to a truth they hadn’t been able to name.

How do you find balance being a Mom with your own career?

For me, it starts with seeing the connectedness between all the roles I play. My kids are my top priority and I believe that being the best parent I can be also means finding fulfillment and peace in my own life. Coaching is a part of that larger big picture for me.

I also see balance less as a fixed destination and more as a living ecosystem. What works for our family today may not work a year from now. The goal isn’t to lock into a rigid routine—it’s to stay adaptable and have the right tools to navigate the waves as they come.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from a fellow Mom?

Mother knows best!

What do you like to do to relax/have fun for yourself?

This is a great question. To relax, I like to get outside, move my body and forget about my phone. I really enjoy having some laughs with my friends at dinner, and also just chatting with my husband, Kevin, after the kids are in bed. If there were no obstacles, I’d take a trip to Japan next week!
