Meet a Mom: Anna Buzik of Cups N’ Cones! | Greenwich Moms

This week’s Meet a Mom interview is with Anna Buzik, an Old Greenwich mom of two behind what will surely soon be a favorite Old G business – Cups ‘N Cones! On March 26th , the ice cream shop opened its doors on Sound Beach Ave, in the same location as the former Rosie’s Frozen Yogurt. Fans of Rosie’s will be happy to know they’ll also find their favorite froyo flavors and toppings in addition to ice cream. “We will change some of the flavors seasonally, but the popular flavors will be available all year round. In addition, we are introducing new products, such as 12 flavors of scooped ice cream, milkshakes and waffles!” shares Anna. Here is more about this sweet new local destination, Anna and her family and more.

Can you please share a bit about your family life in Greenwich?
My family and I moved to Old Greenwich in 2017. Just like most of us, we moved here for all the same reasons—more space, better school system and fresh air. My kids are now 7 and 9 years old. Both of them go to the Old Greenwich School and could not be happier. Being a city girl, it was hard for me to get used to the suburban life, but I find myself lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful people that I get to call my friends. My friends changed my perspective.

Love that. What do you enjoy most about Old Greenwich?
Old Greenwich has a phenomenal community. Unlike other suburbs, we can walk to places, stop by for a coffee or ice cream or enjoy a stroll in the park. My favorite place though is our treasured beach. Visiting Tods Point is always very special for me and my family.

Can you please tell us about your professional background and how you decided to open Cups ‘N Cones?
After getting my degree in Business Law and Business Management, I worked at a few firms with the focus on International Trade Finance. I enjoyed working with my clients and traveling all over the world to visit them. However, COVID hit and life paused. During this time, I came to realize that nothing is more important than being with the family. Spending hours on the train and commuting was no longer an option for me. I came across an opportunity to take over Rosie’s Frozen Yogurt and immediately felt that this was the right choice for me and my family. Ice cream always made me happy—how can it not? Opening Cups N’ Cones was the easiest decision of my life.

Congrats! How would you describe Cups ‘n Cones?
I actually asked my daughter to help me answer this question. Her immediate response was – it’s yummy and colorful. This is exactly what Cups N’ Cones is! We all need a piece of happiness and delight. Come and see it for yourself, I promise you won’t disagree with this description.

You’re offering birthday parties—so fun! What will those entail?
Yes! I’m so excited just talking about it. As a mom of two, who has been to all the various parties, I’m so thrilled to be offering a new birthday party venue. The families can rent our space and not only enjoy an all-you-can-eat ice cream party, but also entertain their guests by inviting a magician, face painter, having a photo booth and much more. I mean there are so many options and add-ons. We work with several established vendors, who help create an unforgettable experience. Cups N’ Cones is a one stop shop for your birthday fun! Our customers won’t need to worry about a cake (if they forgot to order one) or a birthday candle, we have you covered! We are getting a lot of requests and I recommend booking your party ahead of time.

Anything else you’d like to share?
My family spent a lot of time thinking about Cups N’ Cones and how we can improve our shop and give back to the community. I hope we have accomplished what we had in mind and can’t wait to hear from our valued customers. We have also assembled a fun and dedicated team at Cups N’ Cones who care deeply about customer satisfaction!

We love to support local businesses. Would you please share your favorite local places to:

Get dinner as a family:
Le Fat Poodle is our go to! Love their lunch and dinner options.

Go out for date night:
My husband and I like to try new things. We are very grateful that a lot of delicious restaurants opened up on the Avenue, but we are also happy to venture out and explore new restaurants in Fairfield County. With that said Miku and Valbellanever disappoint.

Have fun as a family:
During quarantine we learned a lot about hiking (never, ever did I think I can hike!), so this has become a great activity for us as a family. The beach, however, is still our number one destination.

Work out:
I’m big into Peloton and try to work out three times a week. My favorite instructor is Cody, who makes the workout so much fun! The things that come out of his mouth are hysterical.

Grab coffee:
I think Cups N’ Cones it is. A good coffee is very important to me. In fact, premium coffee was the first thing that I added once we took over. During our renovation, I loved going to Sweet Peas and Joe Studio. Both are great options.

Shop for yourself:
I love walking up and down the Avenue. The small boutiques like “Great Stuff” or “Out of The Box” and “Intermix” offer some amazing clothing. The key is to go out with the intention of just browsing and that’s when the magic happens…

Shop for your kids:
Anywhere from J.Crew to Target to Lester’s. Both of my kids are very picky and only wear certain styles, so I just buy in bulk if I find something that they like.
