Make-A-Wish Connecticut to Celebrate 30th Anniversary at Celebrating Wishes Ball | Greenwich Moms

On Saturday November 5th, Make-A-Wish Connecticut will be holding its annual Celebrating Wishes Ball, in celebration of their 30th Anniversary. The event will take place from 6 p.m. until midnight at the Greenwich Country Club in Greenwich, CT. In their 30 years of existence, Make-A-Wish Connecticut has granted over 2,700 wishes for children who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
This year, Make-A-Wish Connecticut will be honoring two Wish Children at the Ball – 6-year-old Quinn, who wished to go to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, and 10-year-old Connor, who paired his love for food and travel and wished to go on a Mediterranean Cruise. Quinn and Connor will be joined by over a dozen more Wish Kids from the community who will visit with guests and share their individual stories throughout the evening.

This year will also feature special guest is John Crowley, Formal National Board Chair for Make-A-Wish America and a Wish Dad. Crowley and his family’s story served as the inspiration for the film Extraordinary Measures.
The Celebrating Wishes Ball will include dinner, dancing, a live and silent auction and the opportunity to help make wishes come true for more children. In 2016, Make-A-Wish Connecticut granted a record-setting 240 wishes. The chapter hopes to grant even more in 2017.  Events such as the Celebrating Wishes Ball ensure funding for many of these wishes and play a vital role in the continued success of the organization.
“This event alone is one of the reasons why we are able to grant so many wishes,” shared Pam Keough, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Connecticut. “Because of the generosity of our sponsors and donors we are able to be where we are today, and for that we are all extremely thankful.”
The annual event would not be possible without its incredible sponsors,  partners, and committee leaders. The event’s co-chairs are Brooke and Nicholas Bohnsack, Gina and John Filippelli, Sharon and David Platter and Julie and John Rivard. Make-A-Wish also extends a very special thank you its honorary event committee: Jodi Applegate, David Cone, Jack Curry, John Flaherty, Michael Kay, Bob Lorenz, Meredith Marakovits and Chris Russo.

About Make-A-Wish® Connecticut
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  Wish-come-true experiences can do wonders by providing a much-needed break from lengthy hospital stays and medical treatments. They give back to a child what a serious medical condition can take away—the chance to simply enjoy being a kid. Wish kids choose something that will inspire happiness, and allow them to spend precious time with their families. The Connecticut chapter has made over 2,700 wishes come true since its inception in 1986.
