How has your business changed since you started out 20 years ago?
In addition to our two brick and mortar locations, we have an online presence and enjoy both styling and outfitting customers from across the country. Women want fine jewelry that can take them from working out, to lunching with friends, to date night. You can easily stack the blend of cutting edge pieces offered at JL Rocks and make them work for all these occasions and more.
What separates JL Rocks from other jewelry lines out there?
Because we are direct to consumer we are able to offer a wonderful value for fine jewelry. Our customers enjoy the big look we provide at an affordable price. In addition to offering our own collections, we also manufacture custom, bespoke pieces upon request. This is truly one of our strong suits because we understand the importance of family heirlooms and respect the history involved with each piece.
How has social media helped grow your business?
Social media drives a large percentage of our consumer awareness and sales. We understand the importance of providing great content so our customers are inspired and can see how pieces are styled together. This also helps drive our online business.

You’ve opened a Greenwich location. How does it compare to the original Westport one?
We have a large following in Greenwich because of my family connections in the town. Both my sister and brother live in the community and are representative of one of our larger customer profiles. We are thrilled to be able to offer JL Rocks to customers in Greenwich and its surrounding towns.
What are some pieces on the horizon?
In addition to our own collections, we offer a select few private label brands as well. We are working on some exciting new charms from these inhouse designers; Devon Woodhill and 79 Layers.
Anything else you’d like to share?
The purchase of fine jewelry has shifted away from pieces that women buy just for special occasions and events. The same pair of earrings and layered necklaces are now worn for everything from dropping off children at school, to barre class, to professional attire. The casual lifestyle is here to stay and this reflects how we wear our jewelry.
