This week’s Meet a Mom interview is with Jody Deluca, principal and owner of Jody Deluca Designs based right here in Greenwich. She’s been creating gorgeous interiors for over 20 years, and her services range from full-service interior design to home staging. We spoke to Jody about what she wants potential clients to know about her, design trends she’s seeing and more.
Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
I was born and raised in Greenwich and currently live in Darien. Since earning my degree in Interior Design from Marymount College, I’ve been designing homes for over 20 years in Connecticut, New York and vacation destinations around the country. I am also a mom to three children and have one grandchild, as well as three dogs.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
We design homes based on our client’s style. At the end of the day, it’s the client who is coming home to the space so we strive to take their style and take it one step further.
What separates Jody Deluca Designs from other firms in the area?
Accessibility and partnership on all size projects equipped with a full, committed team. We also do not charge an hourly rate. Our focus is to create you the best possible space, no matter how long it takes.
Sounds great! What do you want all potential clients to know before calling you?
We work with clients and projects of all sizes. We want you to look at us as partners in designing the home you’ve dreamed and let us help guide you through the process. We can help you with small areas such as a foyer, along with large projects like building a new home from the ground up. We have a full network of partners such as builders, electricians, plumbers, cabinetry, upholstery, masonry etc. so we are fully equipped with a team of professionals to help us finish the job and for the job to run smoothly, within budget and on time.
When someone hires you, what is the process like?
We first like to come to your home to do a site visit. You show us the space you’re hoping to design and talk to us a bit about your style. From there our team goes to work, putting together a design page and floor plan rendering. We then invite you to come to our showroom so we can walk you through our proposal and can show you samples so you can touch, feel, and really envision the space we are designing for you. We then incorporate your feedback until we have a final plan that you love!
Why is hiring help with interiors actually something that can save you time and money?
We have resources and contacts that you likely wouldn’t be able to access on your own, so we have a wide variety of options available to find the perfect selection to fit your needs. Not only do we help design your perfect space, but we also can take the worry off of your plate on managing a budget. Because we are focusing on these assets day in and day out, we are experts at knowing how to sprinkle your budget in the right places so that your dollars are making the most impact.
What are the biggest trends you’re seeing in your industry right now and in the near future?
People are looking to go bolder with their homes. After being in them for so long during the pandemic, people are looking to turn their homes into the oasis they’ve always dreamed of! We are working with our clients to reimagine and repurpose everyday spaces and transform them to be both interesting and useful.
Who is your dream client?
Someone who is up front about what they’re looking for and then trusts us to go to work, that’s what we’re here for after all! Also, someone who provides feedback and is honest about their thoughts along the way.
What’s your priority this year for your Jody Deluca Designs?
Growing our firm to not only be for our clients but for people who are looking for that final accessory to round out the room. We are expanding our showroom to be somewhere you can pop into and see what we have in stock, ready for you to take home or have us ship directly to you in a short period of time.
