ABC NY Moms, Scarsdale Moms and The Local Moms Network celebrated the start of the holiday season with an early November pre-holiday shopping event at Lord & Taylor Scarsdale, the flagship store for the brand. The evening included a fashion show featuring some of the hottest looks for parties (from casual to formal) skillfully put together by popular Westchester-based stylists Penny Goffman and Stacy Danow of Jolie Gotique.
Makeup and hair was done by the salon at Lord & Taylor. Guests enjoyed seeing the looks come down the runway, worn by notable local women. While they watched, they sipped Champagne and ate light bites provided by Sarabeth’s of Lord & Taylor. Once they chose their must-have pieces, they were able to shop them with special discounts.
“Working at the Lord & Taylor fashion show was truly a memorable experience, but not solely because of the amazing styles. In fact it was mainly due to the amazing models, who included clothing designers, stylists, magazine contributors and health and wellness experts,” notes Goffman, whose favorites of the evening were both retro styles—the Women’s Tuxedo and the Neck Bow.

Regarding the feminine tailored tux, Goffman says: “Nothing against dresses, but there’s something so elegant and sensual about a woman in men’s evening wear.” And of the Neck Bow look (aka the “pussybow” worn by Marisa Bloom of ABC NY Moms) she says: “The ultimate symbol of status, Princess Diana wore a pussybow blouse during her engagement photoshoot to Prince Charles in 1981. And then of course Carrie Bradshaw rocked the look throughout Sex and the City. Everything old is new again and that couldn’t be more true for women’s neckties!”
Bloom, who organized and MC’d the evening, says: “I was thrilled to host this wonderful event at the flagship Lord & Taylor store in Scarsdale, as part of our mission to keep those in Westchester and beyond in the know, from where to shop to events to attend (with and without kids!).”
