Greenwich Botanical Center – Drawing Plants & Their Textures With Jeanne Reiner

April 10 @ 10:00 am

Come and learn from botanical artist, Jeanne Reiner, about how to draw different plant textures. Whether it is a blade of grass, a veiny tropical leaf, fuzz on a lamb’s ear leaf, or silk on a seed pod; plants have an inordinate variety of textures to try to capture on paper and Jeanne will demystify this process for artists of all abilities. Using graphite pencils students will learn how to depict various textures found on plants such as tiny hairs, veins, striations etc. Students will create an entire page using techniques which can be later utilized for other illustrations.

Jeanne Reiner is the co-founder of the Tri-State Botanical Artists of New York Botanical Garden where she is also an instructor. She is currently serving as a board member of the American Society of Botanical Artists. She has been named, in 2021, a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists in the United Kingdom. She is also a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, New England Society of Botanical Artists, Greenwich Art Society, and on the Artist Registry of the Filoli Gardens in Woodside, CA.

Provided materials for this class include: drawing paper, graphite pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser and stylus for embossing. This class is open to artists of all levels and experience.
