This month’s selection is The Correspondent by Virginia Evans.

Throughout her life Sybil Van Antwerp has used letters to make sense of the world and her place in it. Most mornings, Sybil sits down to write letters–to her brother, to her best friend, to a University president where she wants to audit a class, to authors Joan Didion and Larry McMurtry to opine on their latest books, and to one person to whom she writes emotionally raw letters that remain unsent. A mother, grandmother, wife, divorcée, and distinguished lawyer, Sybil has lived a full life. Through this epistolary novel we see how Sybil comes to terms with both her past and present and learns forgiveness and compassion in the winter season of her life.
