Breast Cancer Awareness Takes Center Stage | Greenwich Moms

The Breast Cancer Alliance is a fast-growing, dynamic organization. The BCA has awarded over $20 million in grants since the founding. The BCA’s primary fundraiser, an annual luncheon and fashion show, co-sponsored by Richards of Greenwich/Mitchells of Westport is a major charitable event attended by nearly 1,000 contributors. This year’s event is coming up next Thursday, October 27, at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich. A prestigious roster of businesses and private foundations provide generous financial support and contributions from individuals continue to escalate. This stellar performance in fundraising allows the Breast Cancer Alliance to provide increasingly large sums to support vital, cutting-edge breast cancer research each year and to expand educational programs.
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It is about learning to dance in the rain.” That is the theme for this year’s benefit which features luxe silent and live auctions, a delicious luncheon with invited guest speaker, William (Billy) Baldwin, guest Emcee Carson Kressley, and two fabulous runway shows—the Oscar de la Renta collection preview, and the Survivor Celebration Fashion Show, presenting specially selected fashions from Richards of Greenwich modeled by women living with or who have beaten breast cancer. Greenwich Families and Businesses Show their Support!
Finding anyone whose life has not been touched by breast cancer in some way is nearly impossible. Dr. George Tsangaroulis and his team at Greenwich Family & Cosmetic Dentistry are no exception. The dental practice has a focus on prevention and takes a holistic approach to treating their patients. Good oral health is an important part of overall health and well being.  As a health care facility, they are highly committed to increasing breast cancer awareness and supporting research.
“This year National Breast Cancer Awareness Month really hit home for us, as one of our patients and long-time friend was recently diagnosed, so we are excited to get involved again this year to help raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer research. On October 25th, we will be hosting a PINK POWER Party from 9:00-5:00, where we will be donating 5% of production to the Susan G Komen foundation.  We are also all in PINK!  We are using dental supplies such as pink gloves, masks, cups, and patient bibs, to further promote awareness for the month of October.  The company from which we order our supplies donates a portion of the proceeds to fund breast cancer research.  We will also be donating to the Breast Cancer Alliance, which will hold their Annual Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Old Greenwich at the end of the month.  Our contributions could help lead to the early detection and more precise treatment of breast cancer!”
