Savor the Second Season: Planning Your Fall Vegetable Garden
Thursday, July 9, 2026 | 10:00-11:30AM
GBC Horticulture Building
Just because summer’s tomatoes are winding down doesn’t mean your vegetable garden has to. July is the perfect time to start planning a productive fall harvest filled with crisp greens, root vegetables, and other cool-season favorites.
Join GBC Horticultural Education Director Tiana Santasiere to learn how to transition your garden from summer abundance to fall productivity. You’ll discover how to clear space as warm-season crops finish, use your local frost date to create a planting timeline, and select the best vegetables for a successful autumn harvest. Whether you’re new to vegetable gardening or looking to get more from your garden each year, this workshop will help you extend the growing season well into the cooler months.
You’ll learn how to:
- Extend your harvest with a second planting of cool-season crops
- Transition garden beds as summer vegetables finish producing
- Use your frost date to plan for planting and harvest success
- Choose the best vegetables and varieties for fall growing
This workshop is part of our Vegetable Gardening Series, presented in partnership with the Greenwich Community Gardens and led by GBC Horticultural Education Director, Tiana Santasiere.
