Meet Magali! | Greenwich Moms

Magali:  I grew up in Pasadena, CA, but have been living on the East Coast since college.  We moved into our home in Greenwich in the fall of 2013 after completing a year-long renovation project.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
3 children – Eloise, 3.5, Robert, 2, and Sophie, 6 months.  It’s been a busy 4 years!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I’m the first person in my family to be born in America.  My parents moved to the US just before I was born and we ended up staying — hence, the unusual name!  My husband jokes that I have no American sensibilities, though I think my French mother would argue that I’m “too American”!

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Honestly, I owe a huge amount of gratitude to my husband, Matt.  He somehow knows what I need at all times – whether it’s someone to tell me I’m doing a great job when it’s been a particularly rough week or someone to take the morning shift if I seem extra tired.  He’s a wonderful sounding board for how we should raise our children, and he provides the kids and me with so much love and support.  I feel very lucky.

Favorite things to do with your kids?
I love taking the kids on outings – whether it’s a trip to the Bronx Zoo or a vacation to Europe – they make every adventure memorable.  I adore their commentary and laughter at things that might otherwise pass me by.  I love seeing the expressions on their faces when they see or try something new.  Outings generally require a lot of effort with 3 young children, but they’re almost always worth it, and I hope they will shape my children into curious and adventurous individuals.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I left my job as a consultant at McKinsey & Company 5 years ago now, and have since jumped into a number of local charities.  I am excited to be co-chairing “Touch a Truck,” which takes place at Town Hall this Sunday, June 4th, from 10am to 2pm.  This is such a fun family event – I can’t wait to see my children’s reactions to all of the trucks, bounce houses, and musical performers!  Proceeds from the event benefit the community projects of the Junior League of Greenwich.  www.jlgreenwich.org/touch-a- truck/

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
We feel so blessed to be living in Greenwich.  Everyone who moves to Greenwich seems to be making an active decision to prioritize their families.  Parents are active in the schools and in the community, and it just makes for a wonderful environment in which to raise children and to create lifelong friendships.  And on a personal note, it’s nice that Greenwich has the resources to support an active downtown with such lovely shops, restaurants and amenities for when you need a moment away from being a parent!
