Register for the join link and password. Ever wanted a flashlight you could wear on your finger? Now you can have one! Please also note: registering for the first part of the program series also automatically registers you for the 2nd & 3rd parts–no need to try to register for those separately.
In this three-part program, we will dig into the design, production & assembly of a flashlight ring using 3D modeling software, 3D printing, and a handful of inexpensive electronics. Feel free to go with the class template or design a ring of your own—either way, the goal is for you to have a practical wearable at the end of the program and to learn a little bit about the process of developing an idea into a physical product along the way.
While some 3D modeling experience is highly recommended for this program, it is not required.
The free software, Blender will be used in the program, but you can follow along in your own 3D modeling software of choice.
Dates and topics for each program part are:
- Part 1: Tuesday, March 23—Designing the ring (Blender)
- Part 2: Tuesday, April 6—Printing the ring (Innovation Lab 3D Printers)
- Part 3: Tuesday, April 20—Assembling & testing the ring, discussion of possible improvements, etc.
