Vacation Idea: Nearby Water Park Resorts | Greenwich Moms

With school vacations around the corner, many families need things to do with their kids. For those that may not want to travel during this busy time but are in search of something fun to do to beat those winter blues you may want to plan a getaway to one of the amazing Water Parks nearby. There is something for everyone and the best news is you do not need to apply sunscreen!!
Aquatopia at CamelBack Resort – Tannersville, Pennsylvania (open year round)
This huge indoor water park has 125,000-square-feet of play space. The park features seven pools and thirteen exciting and innovative slides. The Penguin Play Bay is perfect for toddlers and the Bombora FlowRider surf simulator is perfect for the tweens.  One of the best things about going to this resort is that you can go to the water park one day and skiing the next at Camelback Mountain. It is a win/win.
Chelsea Piers Splash ZoneStamford, CT (open year round)
If you’re looking for something close to home for a few hours on a dark rainy or snowy day, don’t forget about Chelsea Piers’ Splash Zone! This 6,000 sq. ft Splash Zone features 3 super-fun and exciting pools for youths and adults (minimum age 6 months). The Splash Zone offers drop-in hours, and hosts birthday parties. They also offer 3 water slides, though to enjoy the slides swimmers must be 42” tall and pass a swim test.
*Advance reservations are highly recommended for weekday sessions and required for weekend sessions.
Great Wolf Lodge — Scotrun, Pennsylvania (open year round)
This giant resort not only offers an incredible four-story indoor water park, tons of slides for all ages, a lazy river, an activity pool and two hot tubs but it also has gorgeous hotel accommodations, delicious food options and plenty of shops to explore. *Upon arrival you are greeted with a smile and wolf ears for your very own wolf pack.
Kalahari Resort Indoor Water Park– Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania (open year round)
The safari-themed Kalahari Resort indoor water park recently underwent an extensive renovation and doubled in size to 220,000 square feet, making it the largest water park in the country! There is now an 11,000-square-foot wave pool, surf simulator and eight new slides, including thrill rides like the Screaming Hyena, with a near-vertical plunge, and the Cheetah Race Mat Slide, where kids can race their friends. Little kids will enjoy Coral Cove, a sea-animal themed play area. They also have a huge arcade on site, outdoor adventure course (seasonal), and multiple restaurants to dine at from buffet to sit down.
Rocking Horse Ranch — Highland, New York (open year round)
The indoor water park is just one of the attractions at this all-inclusive Hudson Valley resort.  Their signature slide is the 250 foot long Gold Rush Flume. This sounds scary just writing it. There is also an area called the Dynamite Alley Water Walk Challenge filled with countless fun for big kids. The toddlers and little kids will love the Fort Geyser Aqua Station area which has slides, interactive fountains, dumping buckets and huge geysers!
Woodloch Resort – Hawley, Pennsylvania (open year round)
The indoor water park at this Poconos all-inclusive resort may not be as big as its nearby competition, but do not let that fool you since this resort includes many slides for kids and adults especially the double corkscrew super slide. They have two splash pads and one is specifically dedicated to just little kids. Kids and adults alike love to hang out under the Superdome water tower and await the 300 gallons of water dumped over them every few minutes. They also have hot tubs, a kiddie pool, and a big, beautiful indoor pool. You may want to return to The Lodge at Woodloch, (just down the road) for a little kid-free getaway where you can enjoy their championship golf course and one of the world’s best spas.
